Treptow-Köpenick is fighting for the German Tourism Prize 2025!

The Treptow-Köpenick district office recently pointed out an exciting development in the field of tourism. The German Tourism Prize annually honors outstanding projects in the field of tourism to Germany. This year, the Treptow-Köpenick tourism association was nominated with its innovative project “A Bed in the Green – Sustainability Meets AI”. This project is at the heart of a digital revolution that has characterized the last three years and focuses on creating personal dialogues from simple interactions.

The project combines ecological commitment with modern artificial intelligence (AI). Managing director Mathis Richter explained that over a million high-quality data on guests' interests have been collected so far. The aim is to use this information to respond more specifically to the individual interests of visitors.

Public pitch and competition

The nomination for the German Tourism Award 2025 is a historic moment for the Treptow-Köpenick Tourism Association, as it represents the first nomination for the association. A public pitch will take place on September 10, 2025, where the project will be presented. Viewers are invited to follow the online pitch and show their support. After the presentations, a public vote will be held in which participants can cast their votes.

The association is confident about the competitive situation: the Treptow-Köpenick Tourism Association is competing against renowned organizations, including the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Tourism Association and Bayern Tourismus Marketing GmbH. District mayor Oliver Igel emphasizes the importance of digitalization in tourism and supports the association's commitment.

Innovation and sustainability in focus

The German Tourism Prize 2025 is dedicated to promoting innovation, sustainability and digitalization in tourism. In addition to the project from Treptow-Köpenick, the twelve nominated projects also include numerous interesting approaches, such as the “Crafted in Bavaria” exhibition about Bavarian crafts and the use of virtual media to make UNESCO World Heritage sites accessible. Such projects reflect the diversity and innovative strength of German tourism.

What is particularly noteworthy is that the submitted projects have the central goal of promoting sustainable tourism development. The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) has initiated campaigns such as “FEEL GOOD” to support sustainable and responsible travel. Elements such as digital experiences, climate awareness and the involvement of guests are crucial in this strategy.

In times when the effects of climate change and demographic changes shape our everyday lives, the development of sustainable offerings is crucial. Artificial intelligence, as used in Treptow-Köpenick's project, plays a key role in personalizing services and optimizing the user experience. This shows the potential that AI has in modern tourism to ensure long-term competitiveness.

The competition awards ceremony will take place on November 19, 2025 in Saarbrücken, with both jury and audience awards being awarded. Public voting, in which participants can have an active say, strengthens trust in the projects presented and promotes community participation in this important development.
