Ukrainian artist presents works in Berlin VHS exhibition
The new exhibition in the Haus am Barbarossaplatz presents the works of the artist Kateryna Nikolenko, a Ukrainian who fled to Berlin before the war. In the adult education center (VHS) she learned German and can now present her pictures. The exhibition entitled "Graphics and Painting" shows a selection of her latest works that she created during her Berlin exile.
Kateryna Nikolenko was born in Kiev and studied at the art university in Kiev for five and a half years. Her teacher in the German course at the Volkshochschule gave the contact to the exhibition in the VHS Foyer. This is a mixture of futurism, surrealism and avant -gardeism.
The exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to discover the works of a talented artist who continues their artistic activity despite the difficult personal circumstances. The presentation of the works of Kateryna Nikolenko offers visitors an insight into the global political situation, which is also reflected in the adult education center, and reflects the topics of flight, exile and the creative power of art.
It shows how the global political situation is reflected in Berlin and how people like Kateryna Nikolenko can further develop and present their artistic activity, even in difficult personal circumstances. The exhibition illustrates the artistic strength and creative commitment of people who, despite adverse circumstances, present their art and inspire visitors with their works.
