With the camera against forgetting: guided tours and book discussion in Tempelhof

In a moving exhibition that puts the history of the Jewish families into the light during the Nazi era, the focus is on moving photos. "Hold down life. Photo albums of Jewish families in the shadow of the Holocaust" opens doors to a previously unnoticed side of life under National Socialist persecution. Photo albums of six Berlin families impressively show that everyday life was not completely gone even in the darkest times.

The exhibition shows how creative memory work can bloom even under the most adverse circumstances. The pictures in these albums are not only snapshots, but subtle witnesses of an upright attitude - certificates of self -assertion against the ubiquitous risk of exclusion and annihilation. Instead of documenting the horrors of everyday life, the families captured moments of normal life, a perspective that makes the common image of persecution appear in a new light.
