Thousands of Berliners affected by pyur disorder: failure of telephone, internet and television due to damaged fiber optic cables
Since Wednesday afternoon, several thousand people have been cut off from the Internet in Berlin. Customers of the telecommunications brand Pyur cannot make calls or use the Internet or television. The reason for this is damage to two large fiber optic cables, which were created in the Rummelburg district during civil engineering work. Due to the failure of the cables, there were also disturbances in the properties connected above. Tele Columbus, which belongs to Pyur, estimates that around 100,000 TV connections and 25,000 internet and telephone customers are affected by the fault. However, the exact number is still unclear.
The repair work is complex due to the severity of the damage. According to Tele Columbus, the first households can be supplied again on Thursday evening at the earliest. The company assumes that the work is expected to be completely completed on Friday evening. A total of 2.2 kilometers of fiber optic must be collected for the repair.
The disorder has considerable consequences for many customers. The Berliner Zeitung reports that a Twitter user has complained that there is no basic supply of information. Those affected must therefore be patient for the time being and wait for the removal of the disorder.
Tele Columbus and Pyur regret the failure and work with high pressure on the remedial of the problems. Until then, the customers have no other option to wait and hope for the recovery of the services soon.
