Summer holiday reading campaign: Fun for kids in Berlin!

Ingeborg-Drewitz-Bibliothek, Grunewaldstr. 3, 12165 Berlin, Deutschland - On June 30, 2025, this year's summer holiday reading campaign was announced in the libraries of the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district. The campaign, which takes place from July 14 to September 13, 2025, is aimed at children and adolescents between the ages of 8 and 12 and attracts all interested parties with the motto "Reading, reading, hearing, seeing"

With over 500 new books from the library's exclusive and overall stock, the campaign offers a wide selection of genres. This includes exciting Minecraft stories, captivating thrillers, entertaining comics as well as informative non-fiction books and imaginative stories. The participants can evaluate the books on the App Digiclass or directly from the library team on site.

diverse offers for the participants

The summer holiday reading campaign not only promotes the reappraisal, but also the creativity of the children. In addition to reading, creative challenges and hands -on activities in the libraries are on the program that strengthen the community experience. The offer also includes club meetings where children can exchange their adventures and thoughts.

Participation in the campaign is free of charge, but a valid reading ID is necessary. In addition to direct access to the books, the participants receive a stamp book that is available in the libraries. Anyone who manages to read and evaluate at least three books will receive an invitation to the big final party on September 22, 2025.

festive final event

The final party will be a highlight of the campaign and includes a magic show, a buffet and a award ceremony. The participants are offered attractive prices, including shopping vouchers, skateboards, footballs and book prices. This event takes place in the various participating libraries, including the Ingeborg Drewitz library at Grunewaldstraße 3, the Gottfried-Benn-Librothek am Nentershäuser 1st and the district library Lankwitz in Bruchwitzstraße 37.

Through these events and diverse offers, the libraries show how important they are for promoting reading and what central role they play in education. According to the German Library Association, reading is a fundamental cultural technology and libraries are contact points for children and families for leisure activities. Reading promotion takes place through numerous projects and cooperation with schools and kindergartens that promote the language and reading skills of the children.

The library can be reached for further information and questions about the events on 90299 2407. The extensive reading promotion in the libraries of Berlin thus offers a valuable contribution to active and creative leisure activities for the youngest generation.
