according to a report by www.berlin.de Steglitz-Zehlendorf on October 31, 2023 decided to set up the 6-50 development plan in the Lichterfelde district. This affects Benjamin Franklin campus between Hindenburgdamm and Klingsorstraße.

The Charité plans the further development of Campus Benjamin Franklin to a modern university clinic with affiliated research. The large structure in the neighborhood environment and the freest space structure of the Schlosspark Lichterfelde, the Teltow Canal and the Bäkepark should be compensated. The investment requirement for campus renewal by 2050 is estimated at around 1.33 billion euros.

The decision strengthens the health location Southwest and will bring additional research institutions to the district. In cooperation with the Charité, the city planning office will create a draft planning that will be further developed by the participations of the authorities and the public. Participation formats for citizens are offered to include their information and suggestions in the planning. This is an important step for the future of the district.
