SPD in Brandenburg: Agency of the survey values - AfD as the largest party!

Brandenburg, Deutschland - On June 27, 2025, a current survey shows that the SPD in Brandenburg has received a decline in its consent. The party comes to only 23 percent, which corresponds to a loss of five percentage points compared to December 2024. The Secretary General of the SPD, Kurt Fischer, describes these values as painful, but understandable. The reasons for this decline are diverse: the lost Bundestag election, the nationwide trend of the SPD and turbulence in the past few weeks have had their share in it.

Another worrying knowledge from the survey is the satisfaction of the citizens with the work of the state government. Only 40 percent of the respondents are satisfied, while 54 percent are dissatisfied with the current government course. Robert Crumbach, the BSW state chairman and finance minister, nevertheless evaluates the start of the state government positively and sees the survey less than a final judgment, but rather as a mood test. Allegations that austerity measures in the education sector had led to the bad reviews, he decidedly rejected.

criticism of the opposition

In the middle of this political landscape, the opposition - consisting of AfD, CDU, Greens and Left - practices sharp criticism of the state government. The AfD is currently the strongest party with 32 percent and strives for a sole government. But the CDU is also dissatisfied with a poll value of 14 percent. The left, on the other hand, sees 9 percent on a comeback course and has won 2,000 new members since the state election. The Greens remain 5 percent and just missed the move into parliament in the state parliament election in autumn 2024. In particular, they criticize the loss of trust in the coalition of the SPD and BSW as well as the general political self -employment of the government.

The survey, which was carried out on behalf of RBB24 Brandenburg Aktuell and Antenne Brandenburg, reflects skepticism over the new government coalition. It is the first SPD-BSW coalition at the country level in Germany. This skepticism occurred directly at the government start and has strengthened since then. In the past few weeks there have been evidence that the strength of the AfD is perceived as a potential threat to alternative government alliances, such as red-red or a Kenya coalition.

election forecasts and their uncertainties

The current political mood in Brandenburg is also the surveys, although they do not allow any clear forecasts for the election result. According to dawum.de, the surveys reflect a current projection, with an error tolerance of around 1 to 3 percentage points to be observed. In the last state election on September 22, 2024, the mean deviation of all institutes was an average of 1.65 percentage points, with some parties having larger deviations.

The interest in the upcoming state elections, which will be scheduled for September 22, 2024, is increasing, in particular due to the remarkable support of the AfD in East Germany. These dynamics will undoubtedly continue to shape the political landscape in Brandenburg and influence the strategy of the parties.
