Summer challenge in libraries: collect and win stamps!
The Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg City Library starts an exciting summer challenge, which is specially designed for children between the ages of 8 and 12. District Mayor Clara Herrmann announced on June 25, 2025 that this participation campaign offers young readers the opportunity to promote their reading pleasure in an entertaining way and at the same time gain great prizes. Participating children can collect stamps by borrowing books, audio books and films in selected libraries.
To get a stamp, a small task must be solved over the borrowed media after the loan. If the questions are successfully answered, a stamp waves in the stamp book. Particularly gratifying: five stamps are necessary to win a small price. The 3rd and 10th stamps also bring a little surprise for the young readers.

Overall, the following libraries take part in the summer of Challenge:
- Family library Else Ury, Glogauer Straße 131, 10999 Berlin
- Central library Wilhelm Liebknecht / Namik Kemal, Adalbertstraße 21, 10999 Berlin
- district library Friedrich von Raumer, Dudenstraße 18-20, 10965 Berlin
The challenge is heralded with an opening party in which the author Frauke Angel will read from her book "Diary of a high -flyer". The weekly club meetings take place once a week during the summer vacation, from July 24th to September 6th, 2025. These meetings offer the participating children the opportunity to exchange ideas and earn an extra stamp. The children can take part in the Challenge at any time, even if they cannot participate in all weekly meetings.
graduation ceremony and awards
The summer challenge ends with a large final party on Friday, September 26th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This takes place in the youth leisure facility Civilipark, Waldemarstraße 57, 10997 Berlin. At this event, the participants are not only celebrated, but also awarded prices. [Education server] provides numerous initiatives that aim to motivate children and adolescents, to discover and enjoy reading.
