SEK arrested after a threat to a delivery service employee in Berlin-Lichtenberg
The Berlin police special operations command (SEK) arrested a man in Berlin-Lichtenberg on Thursday evening who is said to have threatened a delivery service employee with a firearm. The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Gensinger Strasse in Friedrichsfelde.
According to the investigative authority, a 40-year-old employee of a snack had delivered an order to an apartment. The 33-year-old customer is said to have been very angry due to a supposedly incomplete delivery. Accordingly, he pushed the supplier and threatened with a long weapon. The endangered employee reacted in the spirit and fled to alert the police immediately.
The SEK was then switched on and moved out to cope with the situation. They were finally able to arrest the 33-year-old. During the search of the crime scene, the long weapon, a softair weapon with the associated ammunition, was found and confiscated.
The police also carried out a breath alcohol test with the man, who showed a value of 2.3 per thousand. This emerges from the previous findings of the investigators.
The incident again illustrates the risk that delivery services employees are exposed to. Recently, attacks and violent incidents have occurred against this group of employees. The unions are therefore increasingly calling for measures to protect the suppliers, such as better training and safety precautions.
The SEK in Berlin-Lichtenberg was able to prevent worse things and arrest the alleged perpetrator. The investigation into this incident continues to uncover all the background and to clarify the legal consequences for the man.
