Shocking blood tests: PfAS pollution in BUND members discovered
shocking discovery in the Laborer of the Federal Environment and Nature Conservation Germany (BUND)! Blood samples from the federal board member and employees were examined for the dreaded PFAS chemicals-also known as the eternal slide chemicals. And what the tests brought to light is alarming: there are dangerous substances in all blood of the test subjects! Some high concentrations are causing the highest concern - with potential health consequences that cannot be ignored!
pfas, an abbreviation that stands for per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances, now penetrates every aspect of our lives. And that is not only worrying, but also extremely dangerous! It is scientifically proven: the health risks range from cancer to organ damage to increased miscarriages. Even newborns are hardly born today without pfas in the blood! These chemicals are almost indestructible and return to our environment in an unexpected way after production and disposal - over air, water and floors.
alarm call to Health Minister Lauterbach
BUND chairman Olaf Bandt raises the alarm, and his message is clear: "Nobody, not even me, is spared from this burden." He is shaken by his own test result. Bandt calls for Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) an immediate EU-wide prohibition of these dangerous chemicals. He demands: "We have to contain this threat to people and the environment!"
The federal study tested the blood of 16 subjects on 13 different Pfas chemicals-and the result is shocking! Six different PFAs have been detected, including toxic substances such as Pfoa and Pfos. The highest values of PFOs - a substance that has been banned in the EU since 2010 - show that we are far from being sure. From a value of over 5 ng/ml there is an increased risk of harmful effects, and this is exactly what was exceeded in two samples!
an environmental problem without limits
The chemical compounds are not only serious in terms of health, but also a disaster for our environment! Pfas accumulate in organisms, spread like a running fire and are everywhere - from the rain to air to our food.
Bandt stipulates: "We are not allowed to leave our future generations a poisoned world. Pfas belong on the index!" And he knows what he is talking about: "Industry tries to press against its responsibility while the government is watching." The federal government therefore not only calls for personal responsibility, but also calls for urgent measures from the government!
The world now needs a clear stop for Pfas! Let's compete against this invisible threat!
These alarming results are part of a broader movement that must also result in future EU guidelines. It is high time to stand up for the protection of people and nature and to stop this impending health risk!
