Reinickendorf calls for participation: participate now online!
Reinickendorf, Deutschland - On July 4, 2025, the Reinickendorf district office invited the citizens to actively participate in the district. On the occasion of the online participation for the "Rathaus environment Reinickendorf" master plan, which started on July 1, the perspectives and needs of the Reinickendorfer citizens should flow into the planning process. The goal is to design the town hall and its environment as a modern place for administration, exchange, encounter and public life, as [berlin.de] (https://www.berlin.de/ba-reinickendorf/aktuelles/Pressemaytreungen/2025/Pressemage division reports.
Under the direction of district councilor Korinna Stephan (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), the master plan in cooperation with the office is developed by the spatial planner and the landscape architecture firm Planen + Bauen. This cooperation is intended to ensure that the needs and wishes of the citizens are the focus of the plans. The online survey remains anonymous and will be available on the Mein.Berlin platform by July 20, 2025. The results of the participation are also published on Mein.Berlin.
Diverse development projects in Reinickendorf
In addition to the master plan for the town hall environment, there are numerous other development projects in Reinickendorf, which are presented on the Mein-Reinickendorf platform. These include:
- Development concept Airportsee
- The Fürstendamm
- Extensions of several primary schools, including the school on the Vierrutenberg and the Hoffmann-V.-Fallersleben-elementary school
- New construction of playgrounds, such as the playground at Waldsee
- renovation of the large playing field Seebadstrasse
- Renaturation of the Tongrube Hermsdorf
These projects have been provided with detailed profiles, which are available in both short and full version on the website, such as my-reinickendorf.de emphasized.
Citizen participation as a trend in urban development
The current developments in Reinickendorf reflect a general trend in Germany, and in which citizen participation is increasingly in focus on major projects of urban development. Many citizens demand more participation in the design of their living environment. This is accompanied by a growing criticism of planning processes, which often comes under legitimation pressure, such as [difu.de] (https://difu.de/projekte/buerger-an-gross-dojekt-der-stadt development).
The shift in roles between local politics, administration and civil society is clearly noticeable. Citizens are no longer just passive recipients of decisions, but are actively involved in the participation of their city. Therefore, online participation is considered an important step as part of the master plan to meet the requirements and expectations of the population.
