Rat infestation at the Quickborner Straße car park in Reinickendorf: District office cuts back green areas.

The street and green space office of the Reinickendorf district office has started to cut the entire shrub, hedge and tree areas at the parking lot on Quickborner Strasse extensively. This measure was required because the parking lot was regularly illegally used as a garbage shelf, which led to a rat infestation. The health department has therefore urgently recommended the pruning of the greening of rat control. The Berlin city cleaning (BSR) also hopes for a better overview of the previous bulky lick on the square.

According to its own information from the Reinickendorf district office, illegal garbage is a widespread problem in the region. In 2022, a total of 2,500 cases of illegal garbage deposits were reported in the district. These not only ensure pollution, but also attract rats. This is a health risk for residents and visitors.

The city of Berlin had already taken measures to tackle the problem of illegal garbage deposits. This includes regular checks and penalties for the cause of garbage. The rat fighting is now another step to improve the situation.
