Polish writer Ziemowit Szczerek invited to reading in Berlin
The German-Polish Society and the Humboldt library have invited the renowned Polish writer Ziemowit Szczerek for the “Read what the neighbors write”. Szczerek, known for his passionate writings on Eastern Europe, will appear on May 22, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. in the Humboldt Library in Berlin.
Ziemowit Szczerek, born in 1978, addressed the journey of a journalist named Paweł on Polish country road No. 7 from Krakow to Warsaw in his work “Seven”. On this trip, Paweł encounters various dark facets of Polish society, including nationalism and chauvinism. Szczerek is considered an intellectual writer who deals with the geopolitical, historical and cultural peculiarities of Eastern Europe.
The reading of Ziemowit Szczerek is moderated by the journalist and author Dorota Danielewicz and illustrated by Dorota Cygan. The actor Uwe Neumann will present selected passages from the book. The event is supported by the decentralized cultural work Reinickendorf.
The reading takes place in the Humboldt library in Berlin and admission is € 8 or reduced € 5. This event offers a unique opportunity to get to know the work of a respected Polish author and to deal with current social issues.
