Regina Lux-Hahn receives an honorary certificate for her commitment in Lichtenberg
Lichtenberg, Berlin, Deutschland - On July 1, 2025, the Lichtenberg district office awarded the 2025 honor to Regina Lux-Hahn, which is the initiator and long-time head of the Berlin Kinderopernhaus Berlin. This award honors citizens who have made themselves particularly well deserved in the district of Lichtenberg and for its residents.
The Lichtenberg children's opera was launched in 2010 in cooperation with the Caritas Association for the Archdiocese of Berlin e.V., the State Opera Unter den Linden and the Schostakovich Music School. The aim was to bring primary school children closer to the world of the opera, supported by experienced music theater teachers. Regina Lux-Hahn led this children's opera for 15 years and was recently adopted in the town hall of Lichtenberg. District Mayor Martin Schaefer (CDU) paid tribute to the farewell.
cultural education and regional presence
The children's opera house has developed into an important part of education work at the State Opera Unter den Linden. In the anniversary season 2024/25, the focus is on "fairy tales", and several music theater productions are planned, including "Dreams - one night in the Elfenwald", inspired by Carl Maria von Weber's opera "Oberon". Rehearsals have already started in the regional children's opera houses in Lichtenberg, Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Reinickendorf and Neukölln.
The project has not only produced regional children's operas in the Lichtenberg district, but also in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Neukölln and Reinickendorf districts. Every year, music theater productions are implemented in a total of 16 locations, which significantly enriches the cultural training of children in Berlin. The efforts to facilitate children and adolescents to access art and culture are supported by the Berlin project fund of cultural education, which provides funding for such initiatives.
impressive awards and cooperations
The children's opera house has been awarded multiple awards, including the Opus Classic in 2020 as well as other honors, including the "Ideas for the Education Republic" 2013 and the "Hidden Movers Award" of the Deloitte Foundation 2015. This recognition underlines the relevance of the project in the field of cultural education.
The cooperations of the children's opera house also extend to numerous primary schools, music schools and other partners such as the Caritas Children's and Youth Center Steinhaus and Alba Berlin. This network work not only strengthens musical training, but also promotes the social Integration of children with difficult access to cultural offers.
