Legal doctor Tsokos in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung

Michael Tsokos, as the best-known forensic doctor in Germany, enjoys a broad awareness through bestsellers, documentaries and social media presence with hundreds of thousands of followers. Despite his influential position and expertise, he emphasized that forensic medicine and pathology are fundamentally different. Tsokos came into contact with the sight of deceased early in his childhood, which established his tendency to forensic medicine. His career brought him to the Charité in Berlin, where he acted as head of the forensic medicine, but loosened from this position at the end of last year.

In an interview, Tsoko's concerns about the increasing politicization of the Charité and emphasized the negative effects on medical independence and teaching tasks during corona pandemic. He also criticized the attitude criteria for medical studies, which in his opinion have too high a focus on academic performance instead of adequately into account the suitability and personal skills of the applicants. Tsokos spoke out for a practice -oriented selection of future doctors.

Furthermore, Tsokos emphasized the need for an improved medical corpse, since many non -natural deaths, including homicide, are overlooked. He called for adequate training for doctors to adequately recognize these critical situations. Despite his position as a forensic doctor and success as an author, Tsokos plans to devote themselves more and more in the future to other projects and tasks, including the continuation of his successful book series "with cold calculation" with a female main character.

A remarkable concern of Tsokos was also the frequent discovery of rotted corpses in Berlin apartments, which he estimated in a period from one week to around 12 to 15 cases. These lonely deaths in the anonymity of the big city illustrate a social issue and throw light on the lack of social contacts and the challenges of urbanization in dealing with death. Tsokos emphasized the importance of a professional and empathetic approach to these tragic events in order to reveal the truth and to clarify the circumstances of death.
