Trial against rapists: shocking allegations at the Berlin district court!

The trial of Marvin S., a 38-year-old man who was sentenced to five and a half years in prison in July 2025 for raping a high school graduate, began in the Berlin district court on Thursday morning. In this new trial, Marvin S. faces further serious allegations involving two other women. The period in which the new offenses are said to have taken place extends from February 2020 to March 2021. He is accused of taking advantage of the helpless situation of those affected and raping them while they were unconscious. This is reported by rbb24.

The allegations came to light during the first trial when suspicious video recordings were discovered on the defendant's cell phone. Marvin S. is said to have not only performed sexual acts on the unconscious high school graduate, but also used misogynistic words and partially filmed the act. In the first hearing, the judge said that it was a “disturbing crime scene”. The victim's condition was so critical that he suffered cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated.

New charges and possible consequences

Marvin S. faces preventive detention for the new allegations if convicted. This is a serious legal tool that can be used in Germany to protect the public from dangerous perpetrators. The court initially scheduled eleven trial days for this hearing, which indicates the seriousness of the charges. The charges include a total of four alleged rapes, which, similar to the first case, are associated with exploiting the helplessness of the victims, reports t-online.

The increase in sexual crimes in Germany is a serious social problem. In 2024, the number of recorded sexual crimes reached a peak of around 128,000 cases. The reasons for this increase are diverse and include greater sensitivity and willingness to report within the population. However, it is believed that there is a high number of unreported cases, as many victims do not report the crime out of fear of being blamed or due to trauma. According to Statista, around 91 percent of victims of sexual crimes are female, and in the case of rape this proportion is even around 94 percent.

The high risk among young women between the ages of 14 and 20 is particularly alarming. In these cases there are often no or only informal relationships between the perpetrator and the victim. The debate about breaking down traditional power dynamics and combating gender-based violence against women is being fueled again by incidents like this. This also comes with social responsibility that goes beyond police measures.
