The Pankow road and green space office has started to carry out extensive tree new plantations in the district. In the past few weeks, numerous young trees have been planted at various locations, including in the Prenzlauer Berg, Weißensee, Heinersdorf, Wilhelmsruh and Niederschönhausen district.
A total of 73 trees were planted in Prenzlauer Berg, including 5 in Buchholzer Straße, 12 in Lychener Straße, 16 in Lottumstrasse, 18 in Heinz-Kapelle-Straße, 6 in Gneiststraße, 5 in Christinenstrasse, 11 in Gleimstrasse and 1 in Rietzestrasse. In Weißensee, three trees destroyed by vandalism were replaced and a new tree planted in front of the town hall. Rennbahnstraße also received 15 new trees and the green area Aidastraße/Tino-Schwierzina-Straße. Trees were also replaced in Wilhelmsruh and Niederschönhausen. The tree species used are ahorn, appleorn, oak, flower scrying, magnolia, silverlinde, tulip tree, ornamental apple and ornamental cherry, which are still being tested with regard to their climate silence. The Uzun specialist company is responsible for the growth care and irrigation of the trees for the next four years.
District Councilor Manuela Anders-Granitzki emphasized the importance of tree plantings and particularly appealed to dog owners to pay attention to the newly planted trees and to prevent dogs from being urinated, as this can damage the trees.
The tree new plantings are an important step for environmental protection and the improvement of the cityscape in Pankow. It is hoped that the new trees will thrive and will contribute to the benefit of the districts of the district for a long time.
