Standards in construction: Trust and challenges according to the survey
In construction, it gets serious! Standards are not just dry regulations, they are the basis for efficient, safe and cost -saving work. An exciting survey by Civey on behalf of DIN has now shown how essential these standards for the industry are!
Over 300 experts from the construction industry were interviewed and the results are impressive! A total of 81 percent of experts trust the German Institute for Standardization (DIN). Daniel Schmidt, board member at DIN, is pleased: "We are very pleased with the great trust in our work!" This survey provides clear evidence: standards are the key to quality and efficiency in construction!
cost explosion in construction
But there are also dark sides! A central topic of the survey is the enormously increasing costs, especially in the building of storey. Here it is the increasing material prices that press like a load on the shoulders of the construction professionals. Numerous experts fear that this development will be further fueled by increasing building interest rates and demands on the standards. Schmidt emphasizes: "A well -founded social discussion is essential to define the requirements for building wisely!"
However, the standards themselves are not a rigid frame. They can always be adapted by experts from business, science and the public sector. That means: regular checks and adjustments ensure that the standards can keep up with the current challenges!
skepticism in the new building type e
But that's not all! The building type E, which has been hotly discussed for months, ensures skepticism among experts. Less than a third believes that this type can really lead to a faster and cheaper building. The opinions are split: almost half of the construction specialists reject the separation between security, equipment and comfort standards. The expected relief from lower norms do not seem to bring what many had hoped for!
and while the construction industry is fighting with huge challenges, a loud appeal is loud according to nationwide uniform building law! 65 percent of those surveyed see a key to low construction costs in a simplification of the building law. Even more crucial: Over 75 percent demand uniform building regulations for all of Germany to finally break through the bureaucracy and to increase efficiency in the construction processes!
The complete survey results are available on the DIN website. This survey not only illuminates the challenges, but also the hopes of the construction industry in turbulent times. The discourse on the future of building has just started!
Details on the survey: From August 22, 2024 to September 19, 2024, the opinion research institute Civey interviewed around 300 active specialists and managers from the construction industry who work every day with DIN standards. The results are representative and show the significant range of opinions in the industry!
Berlin, the construction center of Germany, faces the challenge of actively shaping the change in building culture!
