Neukölln is expanding a successful project Berliner Home Visits to seniors in Gropiusstadt

"Berlin home visits": New perspectives for older people in Gropiusstadt

An innovative project called "Berliner Hausbieben" is now also being extended to Gropiusstadt in Neukölln after it has already been successfully tested in other districts of Berlin. From August 2024, people aged 70 and over are offered by the district office and offered a home visit to inform them about health, care and leisure opportunities in their immediate environment.

The trained experts from the Maltese as well as social workers will act as "pilots" and "pilots". You will help the older people find suitable offers, make contacts and receive support. The main focus is on the wishes and needs of the senior citizens.

According to Susanne Karimi, Head of Department at Berliner Malteser, the goal is to show older people opportunities for how they can discover suitable offers in their quarter, make contacts and find support.

District City Councilor Hannes Rehfeldt emphasizes the importance of the project for the older residents of Gropiusstadt. He encourages everyone who claims the advice and support of the "pilots" because there are many offers for all age groups in the district that are waiting to be discovered.

Senator Dr. Ina Czyborra is happy about the positive response to the information and pilots: internal offer. By expanding the project, older people in Berlin should open up new opportunities for activities and participation to ensure that they are not left alone.

The “Berlin home visits” project started in two districts as a pilot project in 2021 and is now being extended to all districts. In Neukölln, the residents of the Gropiusstadt are first addressed, but all over 70-year-olds in Neukölln can benefit from a home visit. The project aims to enable older people to make a self -determined and vital life in old age.

So far, almost 2,000 Berliners have participated in the free information offer "Berliner Hausbieben". More information is available for interested parties at www.berliner-house visits.de or by phone at 030/348003255.
