Das Kassel Institute for Sustainability at the University of Kassel sets a strong sign for the future! A brand new visiting professorship on sustainability is set up - and the first to take this promising position is the outstanding economist Dr. Franziska Hoffart! In the winter semester she will bring in her expertise in "Sustainability Economics and Transformation".
But what makes this initiative so special? Dr. Hoffart not only brings her impressive academic career, but also in-depth insights into the social-ecological transformation and the challenges of the energy transition. Their research aims to encourage German politics and society to take more ambitious and above all more urgent measures for sustainable development! The introduction of this visiting professorship means a decisive step for the Kassel Institute. At a time when the world is more dependent on sustainable solutions, a clear focus is on relevant topics in research and teaching. And the best? This visiting professorship will be re -awarded every semester in the future! So fresh ideas can be brought into the discussion again and again. dr. Hoffart, who works in Berlin at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) and at the Sociological Research Institute Göttingen (Sofi), studied at renowned universities such as the Ruhr University Bochum and even internationally-in Stellenbosch, Bochum and Shanghai. She is the person who puts her research into the service of a fairer and more sustainable future, and she is ready to ask the crucial questions: How can we speed up the transformation? What prevents us from doing so? And what do the future scenarios look like? On October 25th there is a public event in which interested parties have the unique opportunity with Dr. Hoffart and other researchers in a lively Fish Bowl discussion. Topic: "Technologies and the humanities for a sustainable transformation - where do they meet and how far apart are they?" A must for everyone who is enthusiastic about sustainability ideas!
