Minden sets standards: Companies receive awards for CO2 reduction

Large award for green pioneers! In Berlin, the faces of Edeka, Mars, Melitta and Rigterink shone yesterday. These four companies were honored at the BVL Supply Chain CX for their outstanding services in the reduction of CO2 emissions in warehouse and logistics processes! A real reason to be happy, because the winners not only get recognition, but also send a strong sign of sustainability in logistics!

On October 24, 2024, the waves were high in the new location in the ECC Berlin when GS1 Germany built prices for three times reduction in greenhouse gases. The event focused on sustainable logistics - i.e. sustainable logistics. The development is promising! The industry was actually able to record success through innovative approaches such as alternative drives and targeted cooperation. As part of the ceremony, the prestigious Lean and Green awards were presented.

Edeka shines with 2nd star!

Edeka, an emerging player in ecological logistics, made all records! The regional company Edeka Minden-Hannover, which only contributed to the initiative in 2023, now received the coveted 2nd star after only one year. The company managed to reduce emissions from transport and logistics by over 40 percent! A brave step was to convert the truck fleet to Bio LNG-a trend-setting project with a separate petrol station infrastructure. Imagine this: Around 400 of 700 trucks are already on the road with the environmentally friendly fuel!

not enough! Edeka even launched a social project in which trainees can implement their creative ideas for sustainability and regionality. A real pioneer in the industry!

Mars: An alliance for the environment!

Mars also draws attention to himself with impressive results. With a clever mix of various measures, the company achieved a greenhouse gas reduction of over 30 percent! This includes driver training and the modernization of the fleet. The common transport concept that avoids empty trips was particularly innovative! Another highlight: the "Mars Volunteer program", which gives employees the opportunity to get involved in social projects. With these great initiatives, Mars also achieved the 2nd star!

A real reason for joy and celebration, because not only the CO2 emissions drops, but social responsibility is also promoted!

Melitta relies on green energy!

Melitta Europa has proven that sustainability is also a top priority in the coffee sector! The company stands out with a CO2 reduction rate of over 22 percent. The key to success? Alternative fuels in truck freight transport and the purchase of green electricity for the storage locations. Such measures not only improve the CO₂ balance, but also increase energy efficiency. And in times when energy costs represent an enormous challenge!

rigterink and its green vision!

The long-standing initiative partner Rigterink also shone: with a considerable CO2 reduction of 35 percent, the logistics service provider shows how to make a contribution through the latest truck technology and a premium system for fuel-saving driving. Particularly noteworthy is the innovation project that created the basics for the use of e-trucks-a big step into the emission-free future!

The awards are more than just a paper; They are a strong signal for the entire industry that green logistics is both feasible and necessary! The collected impressions and success of these companies show that sustainable solutions not only have a positive impact on our planet, but also increase the image and efficiency of the companies themselves.
