Wages in Berlin and Brandenburg rise in almost all industries, men and women deserve similar
Löhne in Berlin and Brandenburg have risen significantly in recent years, as the Federal Working Agency has announced. Higher wages were paid in almost all sectors. At the end of 2022, the median of the gross wages of full -time employees in Berlin was 3,806 euros, while at the end of 2019 it was still 3,383 euros. The Brandenburg full -time employees also had an increase. At the end of 2022 you earned gross 3,011 euros compared to 2,708 euros in 2019.
The differences between wages in Berlin and Brandenburg are still significant. The wages in Berlin are still above those of the Brandenburgers. The per capita earnings in the independent cities of Brandenburg were 10.4 percent higher in 2021 than in the counties. The state capital Potsdam has the highest gross wages per person with an average of 38,053 euros. The per capita earnings were also above the national average in Cottbus and in the districts of Teltow-Fläming, Oberhavel and Dahme-Spreewald. The lowest gross wages were paid in the Prignitz, Elbe-Elster and in Havelland.
In most industries, wages have increased, with the exception of the hospitality industry. According to the employment agency, good payment plays an important role in securing skilled workers. However, due to the weak economy and increasing energy prices, the region needs impulses for better growth conditions.
The differences in income between women and men are low in Berlin and Brandenburg. In Berlin, men only earn around 100 euros more than women on average, while in Brandenburg women even earn a little more than men. However, there are still certain professions in which wage differences are available with the same work between women and men.
Another difference is in the ratio of full-time to part-time employees. In Berlin, 400,000 women and 200,000 men work part -time, while in Brandenburg there are 290,000 women and 30,000 men. This leads to a reduction in income and pension expectation of women and increases the differences in income between the sexes. The German Trade Union Confederation therefore calls for a significantly better wage development and strengthening the collective bargaining.
An investigation by the German Economy Institute also shows that the real income of employees in Berlin and Brandenburg, depending on the amount of income, has increased by the Federal Government's packages of measures with regard to inflation. Families with a lower gross annual income of 40,000 euros benefit from this. Families and singles with higher incomes can also benefit from financial relief by receiving an inflation compensation premium.
Overall, it can be said that wages in Berlin and Brandenburg have increased in recent years and that the differences in income between the sexes are low. The regional distribution of wages shows differences between the independent cities and the counties. In order to further strengthen the region, impulses are required for better growth conditions.
