Leonardo Royal Nuremberg: A team on the way to the gourmet tip

The excitement in front of the camera, the focus on the plate - Christoph Ehller, the talented Sous head of Leonardo Royal Nuremberg, adds another glamorous chapter to his résumé! On October 21, 2024, the 35-year-old competed in the prestigious “Koch of the Year” competition in the Bonn final. But the way there was anything but easy.

"Gastronomy is the greatest business in the world", he puts on the crown of his credo. And that paid off, because for the second time in a row he convinced the demanding jury with his skills. Even if the title was not within reach this time, Ehler's joy is unbroken: "The final participation is a huge recognition!".

a successful duo

Since the great success in the previous year, when Ehler and his assistant Entishal Khatib as a team started the race, the two are a well -established duo. This year they took over the roles again, and with flying colors! "We started as a team last year and did the same this year," emphasizes Ehller proudly. "Even if it was not quite enough for the title, we are overjoyed to have made it that far."

In May 2024, her exciting journey in the Munich semi -finals began, where Ehller stood out between 400 competitors and secured a place in the final. The final round in Bonn was the crowning glory in front of a top jury, the members of which together have more than 20 Michelin stars!

For the main course, the ingredients of which were only announced a day before the competition, Ehler created a spectacular three-course menu-a tribute to the culinary legend Dieter Müller. With full concentration and passion, Ehler handled the shopping cart: salmon as a starter, followed by delicate calf and a dreamlike dessert made of pear and cinnamon book. The team from Nuremberg was ready to enchant the jury's palate!

an exciting career path

Ehller, originally from Erlangen, began his career in the chemical laboratory - a decision that he quickly covered. The change to gastronomy was the key to his passion for fine cuisine. "I quickly discovered the fascination of the upscale cuisine for myself," he recalls with a smile.

Now, as Sous's boss, he benefits from the creative freedom that the Leonardo Royal Nuremberg offers him. Here Ehller merges the intensive aromas of Levantine cuisine with masterful French techniques, which promoted him to the Bonn final. A success that underlines that perseverance and passion are always rewarded!

Behind the scenes are also entihal Khatib, the impressive previous year's finalist and Ehlers committed assistant, whose common goal is unequivocally clear: to conquer the top of the gastronomy. With a tireless team spirit and a positive attitude, they also go to future challenges optimistically.

Leonardo Hotels Central Europe, the company behind this culinary appearance, is proud of the success of its talents and promotes this creative potential that sets a sign of excellent gastronomy. This shows that the passion in the kitchen not only spoils the palate, but also lets intoxicating careers flow!
