Creative workshops for students: art and fun in Berlin Mitte!
in Berlin-Mitte, a special format of artistic training will be offered from July 7th to 11th, 2025. District Mayor Stefanie Remlinger informs about the upcoming Artistic workshops , the students of the 7th grade and higher. The workshops take place daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., whereby the participants can be exempted from compulsory lessons for the duration of the event.
The workshops offer a variety of topics, including digital illustration, animation and podcast creation, and also cover the upcycling of textiles. It is particularly noteworthy that both analog and digital techniques are conveyed. Registrations are possible until Friday, July 4, 2025, at 12 p.m. However, the youth art school is not accessible, which could be a hurdle for some potential participants.
art as a process
The events are all about “breaking”, which sees art as a process that offers both joy and challenges. In cooperation with the frixberg , the participants are enabled to explore various materials and tools such as cameras, needles, thread, sound and colors. The disciplines offered range from painting and drawing to pottery and sculpture. The workshops take place not only in the youth art school, but also at selected schools and with partners.
participants are guided by experienced artists who offer valuable support in order to develop the artistic skills of young people. In addition, participation in these workshops is free of charge, since the event is funded by the Senate Department.
youth art schools in Berlin
The youth art schools have a long tradition in Berlin, starting with the opening of the first facility in the atrium in Berlin-Reinickendorf between 1985 and 1987. In the meantime, the youth art schools are the largest of their kind in Germany and have developed beyond the districts of Pankow, Schöneberg, Neu-Hohenschönhausen, Spandau, Wedding and many others. With the Berlin framework concept for cultural education from 2008, the goal was to set up a youth art school in each district.
There are currently twelve district youth art schools, which are managed by the offices for further training, culture as well as school and sports offices. They play a crucial role in the exchange of educational concepts and are part of the European network arts4all , which is strong for the promotion of cultural and artistic education.
With these initiatives, the focus is on the creative development of children and adolescents in order to open up new perspectives and to support them in their personal development.
