Young people away: Berlin offers educational offers for subculture
according to a report by www.tagesspiegel.de , there is a growing lack of young people in Berlin who could create exciting new subcultures and at the same time strengthen subculture in structurally weak regions. The founder of the Berlin Club Tresor, Dimitri Hegemann, wants to counteract this problem and has launched the "Academy for Subcultural Understanding". In this educational offer, six people between the ages of 21 and 35 should learn in a 13-week program how to successfully operate a club. It is important that the participants do not come from Berlin and do not plan to move there. The project is financed by the Tresor Foundation Berlin Foundation and receives a promotion of the “Music Initiative”. The application period ends on November 20, 2023.
As a Berlin citizen, I watch every day how the young scene in Berlin is developing and at the same time thinned out the cultural offers in smaller cities. With the "Academy for Subcultural Understanding", the opportunity to combat this negative trend and give young people in structurally weak regions the opportunity to realize their own creative projects. The initiative could strengthen local communities and motivate young talents to stay in their homoing and to build up a lively subculture there. This would not only enrich life on site, but also reduce emigration into the large cities.
