Hunger crisis worldwide: large corporations and the need for reform

When the weekly shopping in the supermarket becomes a pain, then a bitter hunger stands in the way of it! Food prices in recent years - according to the Federal Statistical Office by terrifying 30 percent in 2020. In countries like Yemen and Burkina Faso, every bite becomes a luxury goods - a state that is unbearable!

The numbers are shocking: 733 million people suffered from hunger worldwide last year! Including 148 million children under the age of five who suffer from growth and developmental disorders. Let's take a look at the dark sides of the global food market!

extremely alarming development

It was not until March 2023 that food prices reached astronomical heights - a record high! The prices were 22 percent higher than in the previous year! And not just because of inflation! The managing director of action against hunger, Jan Sebastian Friedrich-Rust, sums it up:

"It is undisputed that some companies have massively benefited from the crisis." But why? Because a handful of corporations control the market in such a way that they put their professional interests about the needy!

in front of those huge companies that hold 90 percent of the global grain trade in their hands seems to have surrendered humanity. Your profits have tripled since 2020! Incredible! The number of hungry, on the other hand, shoots up.

The alarming reality for many

The consequences of these greed are devastating - in many countries people can not even afford stimuluses! Jan Sebastian Friedrich-Rust speaks to us again:

"This is practically as if a bread in this country would cost instead of 2 to 320 euros." These comparisons make it clear that we are not allowed to look away! The price of wheat and sugar has doubled in Yemen since 2020! In Lebanon, the price of wheat has even increased by 160 times!

Now the question arises: Who can point these corporations into their place? The answer is in our hands! With the petition "Face show against hunger: human rights instead of group interests" we cannot just watch!

Friedrich-Rust formulates clearly and clearly: “With the petition, we ask the federal government to consistently work for the right to food for all people.” Now time has come for clear deeds. We have to put human rights in the first place, i.e. bring in with the signatures!

733 million people are starving worldwide - and the reasons are complex: from conflicts to climate change to the unjust distribution of food that is determined by the large corporations! In order to defeat the hunger, our nutrition system must be fundamentally changed!

Do we want a change? Agricultural ecology could be the answer - a system that focuses on fairness, respect and consideration of the country, animals and people! Read more and support the petition at: action-gänendunger.de/recht-auf-kahnung . The hunger must not be ignored!
