High costs in Brandenburg: Why do so many people in need of care hesitate to move to the home?

according to a report by www.maz-online.de , the costs for an old people's home in Brandenburg have recently increased. The left -wing faction in the state parliament fears that many Brandenburgers in need of care also do not even venture into a care facility due to the high costs, but rather rely on outpatient care. According to the care statistics of the Federal Statistical Office, 185,000 people in need of care live in Brandenburg, which corresponds to 7.3 percent of the population.

87 percent of those in need of care are cared for in Brandenburg in their own apartment or in their own house - thus around 13 percent live in inpatient facilities. In addition, there are those who basically live in their own domesticity, but are in day care or temporarily in short -term care during the day.

The shares to be paid for themselves have increased further this year. As of July 1, an average of 2256 euros per month was due in the first half of the year - almost 400 euros more than in mid -2022, as an evaluation of the association of the replacement cash registers showed. Not all people can finance their stay in the home of saved, which means that almost 40 percent of Brandenburgers who live in an old people's home are dependent on help from the social welfare office.

The Brandenburg left fear that the high proportion of own and the mostly inevitable path to the social welfare office leads to the fact that many Brandenburgers do not consider moving to an old people's home. According to the Brandenburg Ministry of Health, 9420 Brandenburger received help for care last year. That is almost 1000 less than in 2021.
