The lousy matter with doebbeke
After the Second World War, the city of Hanover was one of the buyers of the Impressionist masterpiece "Rosen and Wicken". But the guilty conscience is no coincidence: the dubious art collector Doebbek, known for his questionable business, had demonstrably acquired the picture of persecuted Jewish families. In 1949 he even confessed this, giving the city a big chunk of information in his hands!
But the city of Hanover is unmoved, despite overwhelming information and evidence, no return of the painting. The Levy family must continue to laboriously prove that their parents' home suffered from the devastating Nazi persecution. There have been international regulations since 1998 that are supposed to facilitate the return of Nazi robbery!
unbelievable claims and non -existent research results
Interestingly, the city of Hanover has received strong public funds for processing the Doebbek Collection since 2010. But what happened? Where are the results? The enlightenment changes on very thin ice, while in other cities such as Düsseldorf and Oldenburg the same fate is suffered. In two captivating episodes, the "crime scene art" podcast takes the listeners on a journey full of emotional roller coaster trips.
