Health supply is not alone. What we want to achieve together with other partners of the healthcare industry for Germany, we discuss with representatives from politics, business and health care in the public part of our ordinary general meeting on May 15, 2024.
As the Federal Association of Pharmaceutical Industry (BPI), we represent the interests of around 260 companies - they research, develop, produce, sell and market medicines or other pharmaceutical products in Germany and Europe.
At the press conference, the BPI chairman, Oliver Kirst, explains what role the BPI plays in promoting a strong healthcare industry in Germany in order to make the pharmaceutical location Germany/Europe competitive and future-proof.

In advance of the press conference, we cordially invite you to the public part of the BPI general meeting from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Telekom Hauptstadttrepreftanz, French Straße 33a-C, 10117 Berlin.
In the morning, Friedrich Merz will speak. Afterwards Oliver Kirst, BPI Chairman, discusses with Prof. Dr. Alena Buyx (Professor of Ethics of Medicine and Health Technologies, TU Munich) and Gabriele Regina Overwiening (President, ABDA - Federal Association of German Pharmacists' Associations) about which steps must now be taken to promote a strong healthcare industry in Germany and to ensure the best possible health care.
In the panel discussion "Healthcare is not possible", Anne-Kathrin Klemm (officer, BKK Dachverband e.V.), Dr. Ellen Lundershausen (Vice President, Federal Medical Association - BÄK) and Iris Plöger (member of the main management, Federal Association of Deutsche Industrie e. V. - BDI) with Oliver Kirst about what they want to achieve together for Germany.

Berlin healthcare and pharmaceutical location Germany: An initiative to strengthen the healthcare industry
The Berlin healthcare system is of great importance for the entire city and the people living in it. To ensure that the population receives the best possible health care, the cooperation between various partners of the healthcare industry is of great importance.
The Federal Association of Pharmaceutical Industry (BPI) represents the interests of around 260 companies that research, develop, produce, sell and market in Germany and Europe or other pharmaceutical products. The association is committed to promoting a strong healthcare industry to make the pharmaceutical location Germany/Europe competitive and future -proof.
As part of the BPI ordinary general meeting, on May 15, 2024 in Berlin, the role of the association will be discussed in strengthening the healthcare industry. Prominent guests such as Friedrich Merz, CDU party and parliamentary group leader of the CDU/CSU, are expected. Friedrich Merz will give a speech and Oliver Kirst, the chairman of the BPI, will discuss together with experts from the healthcare industry about which steps will now have to be taken to promote a strong healthcare industry in Germany and to ensure the best possible health care.
The event takes place in the Telekom Capital Town Presentation in Berlin and consists of a public part to which journalists and other interested parties are invited, as well as a press conference. Registration by email to press@bpi.de is required.
The participants have the opportunity to take part or digitally via zoom. The dialing data for digital participation will be communicated to the registered person promptly.
The event offers the opportunity to gain insights into the challenges and opportunities of the healthcare industry in Germany and to discuss possible solutions. A strong healthcare economy helps the population to receive optimal health care and that the pharmaceutical location of Germany is still internationally competitive.
