Football European Championship ensures historical air traffic
Langen, July 17, 2024-The European Football Championship UEFA Euro 2024 not only broke sporting records, but also caused a historical increase in air traffic. On July 15, the German airspace reached a record of 9,979 flight movements after instrument flight regulations (IFR). This day marks the busiest day of 2024 and symbolizes the enthusiasm and the emergence of fans and guests from all over the world.

Overall, there was more flights in German airspace than in the same period in the entire course of the European Championship. Between June 14 and July 14, 2024, a total of 289,513 flight movements were recorded, compared to the same period of the previous year, an increase of 4 percent.
