Block 616 in Berlin: New construction development for area in need of renovation

according to a report by www.berlin.de , plans the district Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg from Berlin together with the Howoge Wohnungsbaugesellschaft and the AOK Nordost a structural qualification in the southern Friedrichstadt renovation area. The largest new building development potential in Block 616 is to be used. The aim is to eliminate the urban planning and freelance deficits of the current development and to enable quality building and renovation.

The process for the development of Block 616 takes place in two stages. In the first stage, task descriptions were issued to the planning teams and a kick-off workshop with a local inspection was taken. The teams, consisting of Caramel Architects ZT-Gesellschaft M.B.H., ISSS Research Architecture Urbanism, KCAP and TIC Teleteretcafe, will now check the previous development goals and, if necessary, develop new concepts.

The urban planning workshop process is embedded in an informal participation process, in which the local population can also participate. This process has been running since the beginning of the year and includes various excessive formats to take into account the opinions and needs of the residents. The results of the planning teams are assessed by a specialist committee and then asked the public in municipal workshops. At the end of the procedure, a final consensus on the further structural development in Block 616 is to be found.

The cooperative development of Block 616 corresponds to the local building strategy of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district and is coordinated by Studio Adhoc GmbH. The informal participation process is implemented in cooperation with the Bauhütte Kreuzberg e.V. and the Parkakademie. The urban development workshop process is carried out by C4C - Competence for Competitions.
