Berlin starts innovative model project: medical cannabis for consumers!

In Berlin, significant changes are imminent with regard to cannabis legalization! The districts of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Neukölln have launched a pioneering model project that should enable adults to acquire medical cannabis in special shops. This emerges from a recently signed declaration of intent between Clara Herrmann, Mayor of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, and Hannes Rehfeldt, district council of the CDU in Neukölln, as the Berliner Morgenpost . The project is carried out in cooperation with Humboldt University and Sanity Group GmbH and aims to research consumption behavior.

A look at the details of the project

The pilot test could start in July. For over five years, four to six shops in the two districts are to be examined on how the buying behavior of cannabis users changes. With a registration as a subject, you can purchase different types of medical cannabis. Not only the buying behavior is analyzed, but also which type of products are preferred-be it with higher or lower THC content.

Important to know that those who do not adhere to the study conditions will be excluded from the purchase. The managing director of the Sanity Group, Finn Hansel, emphasized that there are 63,000 consumers in the two districts. Another aspect of the project is to combat the illegal market, which according to investigations provides significant amounts of contaminated cannabis. The initiative focuses on the protection of consumers' health and is intended to help enable access to safe, regulated cannabis, as well as the Sanity Group . The use of software to monitor the sales figures as well as regular workshops for responsible use of cannabis are also part of the project.
