Frank Zander, the popular German singer and entertainer, officially said goodbye to the big stage at the age of 81. His last big appearance took place at the Berlin “Schlager Olymp” in the Lübars lido and took around half an hour. Frank Zander wore a captain's costume with a cap and its typical small round sunglasses.

Before he appeared, he told the German Press Agency a certain feeling of melancholy, which would only really arise if everything was over. At the "Schlager Olymp", Zander was on stage in company of other stars such as Anna-Carina Woitschak, Vanessa Mai, Bernhard Brink and Nino de Angelo, which also performed for around 30 minutes.

Frank Zander said that he may eventually return to the stage, but did not want to commit himself. His bones are now noticeable, which is why he now wants to do a little sport and do physiotherapy. He also plans to climb two stairs every day. When asked which sport he would not do despite everything, he replied: "I will not be boxing, my nose is too important to me. But cycling would be my thing."

Frank Zander, who was born in Berlin-Neukölln, who used to be a graphic artist and painter, has now been on stage for more than 50 years. He is known for his rough voice and had some hits like "here comes Kurt", "only home" and "I drink on your well -being, Marie".

In conversation with the newspaper "Bild", the entertainer said recently: "I sang almost everything. I said almost everything. I did almost everything. I deserve to bring a certain calm to my life."

The big appearances, as recently in front of 20,000 visitors in the Waldbühne, are now too much for Frank Zander. He would rather have people close to him. Nevertheless, he will continue to be present at his traditional Christmas party for homeless and needy, whom he has been organizing every year since 1995. He also plans to continue visiting Hertha BSC's home games on the east curve.
