more relaxed by the exam phase with the 5 K's: Learning expert Laura Hooymann reveals her top tricks
The upcoming examination phase puts many students in stress. But there is hope! Mars Wrigley has teamed up with the well -known learning expert Laura Hooymann to enable students to relax during learning. Why is that important? According to a survey, many young people already feel stressed before they even go to the university. Microstress can affect general well -being and lead to exhaustion. That is why Laura Hoymann has developed five useful tips to help students take a moment for themselves during the examination time.
The examination time is often exhausting and many students do not know how to deal with it. But thanks to Laura Hooymann's “Five K’s”, students can learn to help themselves and to deal with the exams more relaxed.
- Kau-Time is Me-Time: me-time means to treat yourself to a little break from learning. Just drink something in between, listen to music or take a short shower. A chewing gum can help to shift the focus from learning to chew and then return with new energy.
- concentration through breathing: We often forget to breathe properly. Control of breathing is an effective way to reduce stress and regulate the nervous system. A few deep breaths can help to prepare for the next learning phase.
- Small steps: In the examination phase there is often a lot to do. In order to cope with the mountain of tasks, it is helpful to divide them into smaller steps. Nothing motivates more than painting points from the to-do list.
- communication is the key: It always helps to talk to others about the exam stress. Regardless of whether it is fellow: inside, parents, friends or barista. To be informed and get out of the learning environment can be a great relief.
- body first: body and mind earn correct time. Short sports units, healthy meals and sufficient sleep are important to get through the examination phase.
Laura Hooymann will explain each “K” in more detail on her Instagram account in order to offer specific help. In addition, the tips and a pack of chewing gum are distributed to stressed students in front of the Munich University of Applied Sciences in the form of appealing postcards.
The "five K’s" can be used not only during the exam time, but also in everyday office life or in other stressful situations. So: take a deep breath and continue!
