dr. Volker Heise is a renowned architect and urban planner with many years of experience in the industry. After completing his training as a draftsman, he studied architecture in Aachen and worked as an employed architect from 1964 to 1967. He then completed an architectural and urban planning course at the Technical University of Berlin, which he completed in 1971. During his studies, he worked as a research assistant, first at the Institute for Housing and District Planning (IWOS) until 1976 and later in the research project "International Comparison of Urban Renewal" from 1978 to 1982.
An important milestone in his career was the publication of the book "Constitution with the destruction? Urban renewal and urban opposition in Amsterdam, London and West Berlin" in 1983. Together with Harald Bodenschatz and Jochen Korfmacher, he contributed to the project of the International Building Exhibition (IBA) Berlin 1987
In the 1990s, Dr. Volker Heise together with Frank Dörken an architecture firm in Kreuzberg. Together they successfully participated in numerous competitions. An outstanding project was the Ringelnatz settlement in Marzahn and the Berlin settlement project in Altglienicke. On behalf of the city and state housing association, they were able to realize four- and five-storey buildings that connected to the tradition of the garden city.
Even in his last years of life, Dr. Volker Heise active and was involved in the district council (BVV) Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf for Bündnis 90/Die Grünen as urban development expert.
The many years of experience and the extensive knowledge of Dr. Volker Heise make him a respected expert in the field of architecture and urban planning.
