Film & Talk #2030: Premiere of Stille Post on May 3, 2024

Next Friday, May 3, 2024, the film series "Film & Talk #2030" of the Education for Sustainable Development (SBNE) of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district offers the opportunity to watch the film "Stille Post" by Florian Hoffmann in the Kino Delphi Lux

The film tells the story of Khalil, a primary school teacher in Berlin, which is challenged by war videos from his Kurdish hometown in Turkey. When he believes he can see his sister in the videos, his life gets out of joint. Khalil tries to contact his sister and thus get into a conflict between the Kurdish and the Turkish community in Berlin. By manipulating videos, Khalil and his girlfriend Leyla manage to draw media attention to war, which ultimately leads to heated political debates.

The history of the film is based on true events that were inspired by authentic cell phone videos from the Kurdish war region. The film addresses the power and manipulation of images as well as the effects of conflicts on the diaspora in a globalized world.

After the film screening, the audience has the opportunity to learn more about the background of the film in a conversation with director Florian Hoffmann and leading actor Hadi Khanjanpour. The event is organized by the SBNE of the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in cooperation with the Delphi Lux and the Berlin State Center for Political Education.
