reopening of the libraries: a ray of hope for the community

The district libraries Eberhard-Alexander-Burgh and Halemweg in Berlin are facing a reopening, which is of great importance for many residents. From September 2024 , library visitors can use the resources and offers of the libraries in one afternoon a week, which are actively supported by volunteers.

The district library Halemweg is open every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. . This offers residents the opportunity to gain access to books, information materials and other offers. The Eberhard Alexander Burgh library will also be fully open again on a later date in the coming year, which ensures a revival of cultural life in the neighborhood.

The reopening of these libraries not only represents a pure access to literature, but also promotes community cooperation. In times when digital media dominate, libraries offer a place of personal encounter, learning and inspiration. The fact that the opening of the libraries is made possible by volunteers shows the commitment of the local community and promotes social cohesion.

In the January 2025 , the complete reopening of both facilities is planned, which promises additional options and offers for users. The libraries not only act as places of knowledge, but also as cultural meeting points, where events, readings or workshops can take place.

The contact address for further information is: stadtbibliothek@charlottenburg-wilmersdorf.de . The initiative to revive the libraries was supported by Kentzinsky's commitment.

The reopening of these libraries is a step to strengthen the local community and to promote access to education and culture for all citizens. It shows how important public institutions are for the social structure of a city.
