In the shortest possible time there were two fatal knife attacks on women who again heated the discussion about the protection of women from violence. Federal Minister of Family Affairs Lisa Paus emphasized this topic and spoke of a "massive problem of violence" in Germany. Your demand: More space for protection accommodations for affected women must be created.

The tragic background of this requirement are the acts of violence that have recently occurred in the capital. A 36-year-old woman was stabbed by her ex-husband, while a 28-year-old succumbed to a similar fate the next day. This is classified as female, a devastating phenomenon that affects men, the women only kill because of their gender.

female as a frightening reality

Paus emphasized that a woman is killed every two days by a partner or ex-partner in Germany. Her angry words are not only aimed at the women directly affected, but also on social responsibility to prevent such violence. "These are not just isolated cases, these are part of a systemic problem," said the minister.

Another knife attack occurred on Friday, with a man in Reinickendorf attacking a woman with a kitchen knife and strangling what was classified by the police as an attempted homicide. In view of these incidents, the Berlin judiciary Felor Badenberg also called for political consequences.

Political reactions and measures

Badenberg used the strong words "pure woman hatred" to describe the social problem. She called for her colleague, the Federal Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann, to introduce electronic ankle cuffs for perpetrators to prevent potential violence against women. Buschmann expressed himself openly and had it checked whether there can be a federal law regulation for this.

But the question arises: What are the necessary steps that have to be taken to protect women from such violent acts? Paus announced a violent law law that is supposed to make a claim to protection to all those affected. There will probably be financial support for the federal states in order to effectively promote prevention and expansion of protective places.

The situation is alarming. In the past there have been cases in which women in Berlin were murdered from a cultural or family context. These acts have triggered profound social discussions. In these cases, the judiciary liked strict judgments, for example against two Afghan brothers who killed their sister because they did not fit into their family's understanding.

Paus and Badenberg make it clear that the current wave of violence against women can no longer be accepted. The demand for more protection and a change in the legal framework is more urgent than ever. Women must be able to live safely in Germany without being afraid of violence. Social pressure is growing, and politics faces the challenge of implementing a clear and achievable solution.
