Brandenburg: Naturalization now only with commitment to Israel's existence!
Brandenburg, Deutschland - in Brandenburg, the recognition of Israel's right to exist has recently been a prerequisite for naturalization. Interior Minister René Wilke emphasized this in a meeting of the state parliament in Potsdam and made it clear that this regulation has been in effect since the beginning of June 2023. The measure was made in consultation with Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke and is to be seen as an expression of solidarity with Israel. Saxony-Anhalt was the first federal state that introduced such a prerequisite for naturalization. This development is done against the background of a worrying increase in anti -Semitic attacks in Germany, which are condemned by many sides.
The Brandenburg state parliament also dealt intensively with the topic of anti -Semitism and the support of Israel. Wilke made it clear that naturalization was not about accepting the decisions of the Israeli government unconditionally. At the same time, the anti -Semitism commissioner Andreas Büttner expressed concern about the historical maximum of anti -Semitic incidents in Germany.
naturalization conditions in Brandenburg
The new regulations on naturalization in Brandenburg contain several other requirements in addition to the commitment to Israel's right to exist. These include:
- Confession on the free democratic basic order of the Basic Law
- Loyality declaration
- Confession on the historical responsibility of Germany for National Socialist injustice and its consequences
- obligation to live the peaceful coexistence of the peoples and prohibition of leading a war of aggression
criticism and social reactions
The CDU parliamentary group in the Brandenburg state parliament has demanded more solidarity with Israel and brought additional protective measures for Jewish institutions. However, a corresponding application from the CDU did not find a majority in the state parliament. Wilke also informed that several EU countries have spoken out against the classification of the Iranian revolutionary guards as a terrorist organization.
In the context of the debates about naturalization conditions and anti -Semitism, reforming the reform of the StarmodG (StarmodG), which aims to find out of anti -Semitic attitudes is referred to. The law stipulates that naturalization candidates have to make an explanation of the free democratic basic order, whereby anti -Semitic actions are considered incompatible. Nevertheless, an additional commitment to Israel's right to exist, as some demanded by some, was not included in the new law.
The debates in Brandenburg are therefore part of a greater social and political discourse on anti -Semitism and the requirements for naturalization that is important not only in Germany, but also internationally. In recent years there have been numerous cases of violence and discrimination against Jews who underline the need for clear positioning on the part of politics.
