Yesterday evening there was a dramatic traffic accident in Niederschöneweide in which several people were injured. At 7:20 p.m., a 46-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle on Michael-Brückner-Straße, drove onto the central island and tore down a traffic sign and two traffic light poles. The car overturned several times and only came to a stop after 50 meters.
The force of the impact threw debris into the oncoming lane, where an oncoming truck and a motorcycle were damaged. The seriously injured driver was immediately taken to hospital, where he was found to have an alcohol level of around 2 per mille. The 30-year-old truck driver also had to be treated after being injured by broken glass, while the 28-year-old motorcyclist did not seek medical treatment despite her injuries. The section of Michael-Brückner-Straße remained closed during the rescue measures and the accident investigation, which also affected BVG bus traffic. The investigation is being carried out by a police commissioner.
