A shocking incident shook the Wedding district yesterday afternoon when a 20-year-old drove his car into a group of pedestrians. At around 12:50 p.m., a group of children, accompanied by a carer, were crossing the street at Dohnagestell when the young driver drove into them despite the red light. Several people were injured, including four eight-year-old children, two eleven-year-old children and the 63-year-old carer.
Rescue workers rushed to the scene and transported two of the eight-year-old children and one of the eleven-year-old children as well as the carer to the hospital for outpatient treatment. The remaining children were treated directly at the scene of the accident. The police confiscated the 20-year-old's driver's license and discovered suspected marijuana on him. His blood was taken at the hospital on suspicion that he was under the influence of drugs. After the police measures were completed, he was released. Traffic in the area was closed during the rescue and investigation work, while Police Department 1 Traffic Investigations continued to pursue the matter.
