District office Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf is suspected: Citizens' petitions thwarted? Education is missing!
The district office Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf is suspected of having thwarted a citizens' request to expand the parking zones. The Gervinustraße Citizens' Initiative had collected signatures to force a referendum. However, the district office found that not enough signatures were collected. According to the law, 7244 signatures are required for the citizens' request. However, the citizens' initiative submitted 11,908 signatures. The district office declared 6637 as valid, while 5271 were rejected as invalid. The citizens' initiative was surprised by this result and demanded inspection of the files. After getting an insight into the files, she decided to submit a lawsuit before the administrative court. The citizens' initiative questions the examination of the signatures by the district office and denies the invalidity of a total of 1317 signatures.
The citizens' initiative raises six allegations against the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district office. First, EU foreigners were rated as invalid, although they are entitled to vote. Second, people with the main residence in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf were sorted out, although they are registered in the district. Thirdly, deceased were canceled, although they only died after the signature collection. Fourth, people with information lock were not recognized in general. Fifth, signatures were considered illegible, although they are legible. And sixth signatures were rejected without giving reasons.
Tobias Bergmann from the citizens' initiative suspects a systematically incorrect testing of the signatures. He is convinced that the citizens' request would have been successful if it had been properly checked.
The responsible city council for civil services, Arne Herz (CDU), cannot understand the allegations of the citizens' initiative. He offered the "Citizens' Request providers" to understand the result. However, this offer was rejected. Due to the ongoing lawsuit, he cannot comment on the allegations of the citizens' initiative.
The counting of the signatures in the district office raises many questions. Is it intentional or inability that so many signatures have been rated as invalid? The citizens 'initiative had already forced a successful citizens' decision against parking zones in 2007. At that time, 86 percent of the participating citizens were against the fee -based parking. The discomfort of restrictive measures in road traffic has even increased since then. The many supposedly invalid signatures do not fit into the picture.
It would have been the task of the district office to clarify the case. Unfortunately, there seems to be no interest in clarification.
