Medical Association calls for measures for successful hospital reform in Germany

Berlin, 17.10.2024 - The health landscape of Germany is under pressure! Today there was a final reading of the hospital care improvement law (KHVVVG) in the German Bundestag, and the experts' voices are loud and clear. Dr. Klaus Reinhardt, President of the Federal Medical Association, left no doubt that despite some progress, the urgently needed hospital reform did not reach the goal!

It was an intensive process! Remarkable improvements were achieved in the parliamentary process, especially with regard to further training and staffing. Dr. Reinhardt emphasized that adequate staffing is the key to excellent patient care. But that alone is not enough, and here the alarm bells begin to ring!

open questions and uncertainties

Despite the positive aspects, there is a lot in the unclear. The reform is to be decided, while central building blocks such as the performance group group and the impact analysis are still long in coming. The uncertainty about the financial effects of the reform hovers like a Damocles sword over the health sector. "The remuneration and financing page contains numerous open questions," said Reinhardt. How should the effects on outpatient care and cross -sectoral cooperation be optimally designed? The balance is far from found here!

Another big topic remains the reduction in bureaucracy, which has so far turned out to be a delicate challenge. "We miss our self -contained goal," says the President of the Federal Medical Association. It is time for an honest discussion about the burdens that the health system has to bear. Where is the way to an effective cooperation between the federal, state and self -government? A lack of unity could endanger the future reform!

an appeal to the cooperation

The future of hospital reform depends heavily on a close exchange. Dr. Reinhardt calls on all actors in healthcare to pull together together in order to achieve really sustainable improvements. It's not just about numbers or statistics - it's about the people affected by these reforms! "We are committed to the success of the hospital reform," emphasizes the president. The clocks tick, and the time for real changes is now!
