With the last sentence of the symphony, the choir will appear, supported by soloists, while the topic of the victory of light treats over the darkness.

It is particularly noteworthy that Felix Mendelssohn himself was inspired by a trip to Scottish highlands, which he undertook in 1829. The influence of this landscape is noticeable in its music and gives the work a special depth. An example of his creative power can be found in the A minor symphony, which Mendelssohn only completed twelve years after his Scottish discovery and who is formally and stylistically enthusiastic. Robert Schumann noticed the "formal density" of this work and described it as a "clashing whole" that can also be heard in his last symphony.

With today's performance, not only a musical heritage is continued, but also Weigles impressive career is crowned in a worthy way. The anticipation for the concert and the farewell party is great and thus marks a significant day for the Brandenburg State Orchestra and its loyal listeners.
