Future Wood: Dialogue Day in Munich honors Hans-Peter Fickler

in Munich was once again the wooden industry in turmoil on Friday, September 27, 2024! The German saw and wood industry Bundesverband e.V. (DESH) invited to the traditional dialogue day under the brand new motto "Zukunft.holz". Here is everything about the exciting possibilities that our wood industry has to offer!

The day started with an emotional farewell: Hans-Peter Fickler, the long-time spokesman for the saw and wood industry, was honored! In the spotlight, the great success and the tireless efforts of Fickler, who fought for the industry for almost 30 years, were in the spotlight. Lars Schmidt, the general manager of Desh, and Jochen Winning, Managing Director of the VHK, praised Fickler as a "bridge builder" who bridged the gap between large and small companies and thus laid the basis for a strong advocacy.

A applause for wood!

The State Secretary Tobias Gotthardt in his greeting summed up the importance of the raw material for Bavaria. "Wood is an indispensable part of our bioeconomy!" He emphasized in front of the approximately 80 present. But the industry faces challenges: obstacles such as the regulation for default -free products have to be cleared out in order to exploit the full potential of the wood. Here the use of everyone is required!

representatives from forest and forest, politics and business discussed the future of wood in a gripping panel discussion. There was agreement that wood played a key role for climate protection and the energy transition! "Without wood, we will hardly be able to reach our climate goals," said the clear announcement. Julia Möbus, the managing director of the DESH, emphasized that forest and wood are not only crucial for climate protection, but also offer an enormous economic value!

a new chapter

The dialogue day not only brought honors, but also a fresh air! The Bavarian Desh members elected a new advisory board as part of the regional assembly. The following people were elected to the advisory board:

  • Oberbayern: Marinus Obermaier, Peter Hörr & Hans-Benno Suttner
  • Lower Bavaria: Robert Gattermann
  • Schwaben: Georg Seltmann & Leonhard Scherer
  • Upper Palatinate: Karl Ehrl & Konrad Hahn
  • Middle Franconia: Walter Dietrich
  • Upper Franconia: Klaus Müller-Gei
  • Lower Franconia: Markus Schonath & Burkhard Müller

After the farewell to Hans-Peter Fickler, who no longer ran as a spokesman, a new spokesman will be elected at the next meeting in November. The excitement is great who will take on the valuable task!
