Future of the pharmacies in the focus: Invitation to the press conference in Munich

The importance of the German Pharmacy Day 2024 for the supply of drugs in Germany

From October 9th to 11th, 2024, the Bavarian capital of Munich becomes the scene of the German Pharmacy Day. In this significant event, more than 300 delegates meet to discuss important topics of drug supply and to exchange perspectives for the future. The German Pharmacy Day is not only a platform for experts, but also reflects the current mood in the industry, especially with regard to upcoming political changes.

A central concern of the event is the reform of the pharmacy landscape in Germany, which has increasingly focused on in recent months. The Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach had already presented his ideas for a pharmacy reform law in advance. In view of the upcoming Bundestag election in 2025, the discussion about the future of pharmacies is particularly pressing. The aim of these reforms is to ensure the supply of drugs under the constantly changing health policy framework.

To prepare for the German Pharmacy Day, a comprehensive study, the “Pharmacy Climate Index 2024”, is carried out. In this representative survey, pharmacy owners are asked in order to obtain a realistic picture of the current situation in the industry. The results of this study are intended to serve and illustrate the basis for the discussions during the pharmacy day how important the opinions and experiences of the practitioners are.

An important part of the event will be a hybrid press conference on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in which the topics “The pharmacies in the crisis-a problem analysis will be the focus before the Bundestag election”. Gabriele Regina Overwiening, President of the Abda, and Dr. Sebastian Schmitz, General Manager of the Abda, will inform the press representatives about the challenges and required solutions. This event is not only important for journalists, but also for everyone who is interested in the development of health policy in Germany.

The orientation of the German Pharmacy Day at Messe Munich, Hall C6, illustrates the central role, the pharmacies in the health system. In view of the current challenges that affect the industry, the participation of media representatives is of great importance in these discussions. As an exhibitor, Messe Munich will not only appear as an event location, but also as an active player in health care by promoting the exchange of ideas and solutions.

For all interested parties, there is the possibility to follow the events on site in the Munich press club or online via Livestream. This flexibility is an important step to achieve a wider audience and to intensify the discussion about the future design of pharmacy care in Germany.

The accreditation for press representatives is required on the website www.deutscher-paothekertag.de. The German Pharmacy Day not only represents a central contribution to securing the pension of drugs, but is also a shop window for the dialogue between politics, pharmacists and the public.
