ZDK President welcomes the rejection of the StVO reform-craft and trade were faced with displacement
Today, the federal government's draft for the reform of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) was rejected by the Federal Council. This decision was relieved by many Berlin citizens, as they feared that the reform could disadvantage the inner -city trade and craftsman.
in Berlin there is already an enormous lack of parking space, especially for craftsmen and traders. The travel paths are getting longer, which costs precious time for customers. The reform would have worsened the situation even further by giving municipalities more scope in the identification of residents' parking space, without taking into account the needs of German medium -sized companies.
In particular, working commuters and craftsmen are dependent on the automobile, since there are often inadequate offers of public transport in Berlin and lack of change options on the periphery. Here, the municipalities are unadjusted to ensure alternatives such as Park + Ride systems. The rejection of the draft shows that the needs of companies and commuters must not be discriminated against.
The introduction of a traffic sign for loading areas is also positively received in Berlin. This enables craftsmen and traders to be able to fulfill their work in metropolitan areas.
The rejection of the Design of the StVO reform by the Federal Council is therefore an important decision for Berlin and helps not to disadvantage the inner-city business.
