UN General Batte 2024: Peace and Future in New York focus

In the pulsating metropolis of New York, the signs are on international cooperation and peaceful solutions! From September 24th to 30th, 2024, the highly expected 79th general debate of the United Nations will take place here. In view of the burning global crises and conflicts, the focus is on peace, sustainable development and the preservation of human dignity than ever!

Around 150 heads of state and government from all over the world will flock to the Big Apple to discuss the challenges of our time together. But the spectacle begins two days earlier! On September 22nd and 23rd, the decision-makers meet at the UN future summit. Strategic discussions are in the foreground here: How can international cooperation be revived? And how do we equip the United Nations with the necessary tools for the future? Answers are urgently needed!

The DGVN is on the pulse of events!

The German Society for the United Nations e.V. (DGVN) is in the middle of the action and accompanies both the general debate and the future summit with exciting events and valuable information. Dr. Ekkehard Griep, chairman of the DGVN, sums it up: "Despite all the weaknesses and deficits, the role of the United Nations is the only forum with almost universal membership in these critical times."

Special attention also applies to the youth! The youth delegate to the UN General Assembly, Alina Reimizen, will provide fresh perspectives and be on site with five other youth observers: Ferhat Cicek, Paula Schmidt, Rhoda Zündorf, Selma Cafferty and Simon Zerzawy will share their impressions directly from New York and are available for exciting discussions and interviews. The voice of the next generation is heard!
