A hymn of praise for readers: Inside the Tagesspiegel: The non -profit association "Mog61 - Together Without Borders e.V." In Kreuzberg it is overwhelmed by the helpfulness of Tagesspiegel readers: inside. The association had asked for bicycle donations for refugees from Ukraine, and over 100 bikes were offered within a very short time. The donors: inside came from different parts of Berlin, from Heiligensee to Zehlendorf.

The importance of a bike for refugees is clearly shown in an event last Saturday. Even before the gate opened, a long line formed, including many families with children. For these people, a bike not only means mobility, but also the opportunity to integrate into everyday life in Berlin. Her happy smile gives an idea of the value a bike for people who had to leave everything in their homeland.

At the bicycle edition, Klaus Stark had the club chairman Marie Hoepfner and the other volunteers to do all their hands full. There was a lot of hustle and bustle because many visitors came to receive support and advice. Evidence of the lawful transfer of the bicycle was also issued, which is important if the bicycle owner is checked by the police, says Marie Hoepfner.

In order to be able to give away even more bicycles, "MOG61" is looking for people who help with the repair. From mid -August, you will be repaired on Tuesdays from 2 p.m. Interested parties can register on the telephone number 0176 99 74 36 24 and also find more information on the website of the association.

The collection of bicycles in the entire city area was a logistical challenge for the small association, reports Klaus Stark. Many of the donated bikes were in a top condition. Some Tagesspiegel readers: Inside, who no longer wanted to drive themselves, almost apologized if the bike was dusted or a rear tire was flat.

A team of five to six "screwdrivers" took care of the inspection and smaller repairs of the bikes to make them safe. The screwing on this Saturday too. With some wheels, only the saddle height has to be adjusted, other reflectors are attached or a lighting system is installed.

Although bicycle shops donated some spare parts in Kreuzberg, the association still had to buy accessories. The club members have merged several hundred euros for this. Already in spring "MOG61" was able to hand over over 100 bikes to refugees.

Despite the effort and the excitement, the association's committed people are enthusiastic about the great result. They hope that both the refugees and the donors will be present at the club's big street festival on September 2 on September 2 to celebrate together.
