Treptow-Köpenick: Public participation leads to adapted blueprint!
On June 25, 2025, the district office Treptow-Köpenick and the housing company Stadt und Land announced that they have adapted the urban planning concept for a new construction project. This decision follows the early public participation, which took place from April 2 to 25, 2025. As part of this participation, which was carried out in accordance with Section 3 (1) of the Building Code (BauGB), citizens had the opportunity to provide feedback. The aim was to provide comprehensive information about the goals and effects of the land use planning.
The resonances wereHouseholds: Around 1,700 statements were collected. The focus was on the topics of storey and infrastructure. Dr. Claudia Leistner, district councilor, emphasized the importance of taking into account the criticism expressed, in particular with regard to the planned building height.
adjustments to the construction concept
The revision of the urban planning concept is to reduce the amount of the future buildings. Instead of the originally planned 7- and 8-storey building, 5 to 6-storey buildings are now planned. The height of the new buildings will be between 15 and 18 meters. These changes are part of the development plan procedure, which is continued with the adapted concept.
The next phase in the procedure includes early participation of the authorities and sponsors of public issues in accordance with Section 4 (1) BauGB. Previously, however, the implementation of the environmental examination as part of the development plan 9-100 VE is pending. The revised concept approach will be presented to the Committee for Urban Development of the District Assembly (BVV) after the summer holidays.
meaning of citizen participation
The early participation of the public is not only a legal requirement, but also plays a crucial role in the acceptance of construction projects in urban planning. The procedures are designed in such a way that they actively integrate the citizens into the planning process. These measures can range from information events to community workshops to collect different perspectives and to provide comprehensive information on the public.
A tailor -made participation concept that takes into account the specific conditions of the community is of great importance for the success of such projects. According to planninghilfen.bayern.de increases a transparent and comprehensible information strategy the opportunities for the actual implementation of construction projects.
The results of the citizen participation are presented to the city planning committee so that new aspects can flow into further planning. This citizen participation ensures that the concerns of the population are heard and contributes to creating a trusting relationship between citizens and administration.
Current information on the project is available on the official project homepage of the city and country, which ensures continuous communication and information, as is also practiced in urban planning in Nuremberg (nuernberg.de.
